Smart cars are manufactured by the German auto-maker, Smart, a wing of the Daimler Chrysler Corporation, who focuses on super mini’s and micro cars. These types of cars were designed with the main intention of combating parking problems. Initially designed by Swatch, this vehicle found little takers previously. But these days it is becoming more popular throughout, mainly due to its extremely economical nature combined with easy handling. The Smart Roadster has been modelled on the basis of a double door micro car. With stylishly elegant looks akin to that of a sporty model, the Smart Roadster also accords a powerful output on the whole. This special vehicle has indeed captured the hearts of many an enthusiast in the recent years. The Smart Fortwo is an intelligent version of a city coupe, which saw its humble origins in 1988. With a standard power performance, the Smart Fortwo has a turbocharged three cylinder engine which does the trick. The more recent battery powered two-seater with rear mounted engines are supposed to be more powerful than the regular ones, and they also contribute a lot towards maintaining the ‘green’ concept.
It is said that the main intention behind manufacture of the Smart Cars was to combat the ever-rising parking problems of the congested European streets. With small dimensions and easily manoeuvrable controls, the Smart Car has indeed provided a considerable solution to this predicament.
